TOWN WATER SUPPLY.
WORKS HANDED OVBE TO THE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
In spite of the opposition offered by certain parties the water works have been this day handed over to the Mayor on behalf of the Borough. The intimation of the fact was conveyed in the following letter. The arrangements referred to are that the Highway District Boards shall receive a share of the revenue accruing from the water rate after payment of expenses;— ;■ - - " Engineer's Office, ■ " Grahamstown, Ist June, 1875. "Sir—l have much pleasure, by directions of His Honour the Superintendent, to hand over to you the Town Water Supply, including reservoir arid headworks, in terms of arrangements with the Provincial Government. "I will be, happy at anytime to furnish you with any information required, also copies of plans, books, &c, &c. :•■ "Ihave,&c, ?; ;; " James M. McLaken, . " District Engineer. ■.
