In the Provincial Council last night, after a lengthy, debate, the Government promised to appoint a commission during the recess to enquire into the general question of Provincial surveys. In committee on the Estimates the following amounts were struck out, with the consent of the Government: — Public buildings for telegraph office, post office, etc., £14,540; college, £8,000 ; museum, £1,360.

: From the amount for ; college being struck "out it is now definitely understood that the building recently erected for normal schools will be used for a college as originally proposed by the Government.
