MEETING OF SUB-COMMITTEE

A meeting of the Sub-Committee was held this morniDg at 10 o'clock at the Governor Bowen Hotel, present, Messrs. Rowe, Sully, Dewar, Richards, Black, Sims, Comer, Macdonald and Hicks.

Mr E owe was elected Chairman of the Committee, and after taking the chair said he had telegraphed to the Superintendent asking him to furnish the Committee' with a copy of all papers on Pimping Association loan. Mr Black proposed the' following

resolution:— .•. # ' , ' "That this meeting resolve itself into a committee to draw up a report showing the injurious effect the stoppage of the United Pumping Association upon the

surrounding mines would have, also to make out a list of .the different mines the water would rise in, and in which, in all probability, their works would be stopped. This report to be signed by all the mine managers present, and who attended the meeting last night. A copy of said, report to be then sent to the Boards of the respective claims, /directing their attention and influence to tho matter; and a "copy to be sent to each of the Thames Members in the Council, to enable thorn to present forcibly the disastrous effects a stoppage of the works would have"uponthisfieldand'the Province generally." :.,,.„ „,. The resolution was not seconded.
