DEATH OF MRS. LOWNDES.

CORONER'S INQUEST.

On Saturday we noticed, tho sudden death of Mrs Lowndes, at her residence, Pollen street, Shortland. An inquest was held at four o'clock in the Saracen's Head Hotel, before Dr Kilgour, Coroner. The witnesses examined were Ada Mary Lowndes, daughter of the deceased, Rebecca Wilson, and Dr Fox. The evidence of the latter was to the effect that deceased had lung disease, and that she had suffered from weakness of tho heart. He considered that intemperate habits with the disease mentioned would make it likely that sudden death should occur. The following verdict was roturned by the jury " That deceased died from disease of the heart, accelerated by intemperate habits."
