Tairua Goldfield.
(feosi a correspondent.)
Tuesday morning.' I have no news of importance. Every tine seems to be at a standstill, waiting to see what will turn up. . , The report here is that His Honor "the Superintendent intends to pay a visit to this place. Perhaps you may be able to enlighten the miners on the subject, as a deputation is to wait on him.
The meeting on Saturday was well attended, in spite of the heavy rain that fell.
The last move on the board is miners pegging out claims on the leoses for alluvial. It appears that some who have taken possession were acting under advice of agents belonging to companies on the Thames.
From Banyan Dam there is good news, the prospects are better than got at the prospectors, Tairua.
The packers turned out yesterday to repair the track between here and Puriri setting an example to the Government. When this field was declared, a flourish of trumpets was heard respecting what was to be done by the Provincial Government. The number of men employed is 3 men and a boy. Compare the road and works of the two Governments. Look at Ohmemuri and Tairua.
There is a report of a fresh discovery, but at present I cannot get full particulars. Several leases are. pegged out at Puriri. Parties are prospecting in the ranges. Mr Grakam has been pegging out.
