Price of the Gold.

- The parcel of gold from the trial crushings was assayed at the Bank of New Zealand to-day, and the value was found to be £2 13s 6d per ounce. This is about equal to most Thames gold, but it is believed that Tairua metal will give a higher price generally, some much richer having been got. However, if the yield of the trial crushings should be nearly maintained, the quantity will more than compensate for any deficiency in quality.
