Tairua Goldfield.

If there was.too much said about Ohinemuri ;by supposed to be interested, the same cannot be said of the Tairua. Every one who has gone to the ," extension " country and returned is reluctant to say much about it, but if one can be found * more comnmn'icative „ than another, he. will tell you,'ln the language of the natives it is '{' kapai."\ We have before giyeninformation of various inspects found at^the new field. AnotKer|one was obtained this morning, which, if taken as an indication; of productireness, is extremely satisfactory. A three ounce piece of stone yielded, two globules of gold weighing two grains, or somewhere about fifty ounces ; to the 4on. The piece of stone was'taken at' randam from the loose washing stuff found at Tairua, and showed no visible trace of gold. Later ia the day Mr Kneebone came in from Tairua, and he reported that the prospectors are busy at work taking out stu\ff to send a ton over to Grahamstown to be crushed. The stone showed gold freely, and it is expected that it will crush, from 30 to 40 ounce* to the ton. Such a result would certainly be satisfactory. A number of people went out to-day, and-more are talking about going at the beginning of the week. ••
