(*BOM A. CORRESPONDENT.) Mackaytown, Friday. NO. 1 SOUTH CASE SETTLED. You will be glad to learn that the case of Ca'ran and others y. Adam Porter— which promised to be the subject of expensive and irritating litigation—-is settled amicably. It has been decided to amalgamate the opposing interests, and the terms of agreement are.that a company shall be formed to work the ground, in which the sometime litigants are to have equal shares. £20 from each side are to be placed in the hands of some disinterested party to be named by counsel to defray the expenses, and His Worship granted;an adjournment of 14 days that the negociations and arrangements might be completed. His Worship made it distinctly clear, however, that he only grantect this protection on account of the peculiar circumstances of the case, and for the good, of the field, and wou d not extend the adjournment over the fortnight. There is general satisfaction that this case has been seit'ed so satisfactorily. In the case Riordan v. Catran an; order was made for Kiordan to take possession of the surplus ground of the Hand and Band. There is no mining news of importance to communicate.
