He threatened to kill witness—rhis wife. He came,out into the passage after her with a gun. It went against her heart-to do this, but she was afraid for her life. r » The servant was next examined. Defendant saiH lie had nothing to say in his own defence. He never offered to shoot his wife. Had no gun in his hand. Defendant was bound over to keep the peace for 3 months—himself in, £50, and two sureties in £25 each, and tp pay cost*, £3. STEALING FOWIi*. "William Eose was charged with that he did steal, take and carry away from the premises of one James Thompson, situated at Shortland, three fowls of the value of 7s 9d, the property of the said James Thompson. Defendant, for whom Dodd appeared,!! pleaded not guilty. James Thompson was examined, and from his evidence it appeared that in the month of February last he had purchased the fowls from Mr Bose, and that, Mr Eose had on that day stated taken them to Mr Grudgeon'i sale room and offered them for auction as his. He (Mr Thompson) had gone there to buy them so atfiiot to loose them, and had then charged Eose with the theft. The defence was that Mrs Rose had sold the fowli against his (her husband's) express direction, and therefore therd was no larceny. / This point was argued, and it was decided to hold good, so the case was dismissed. SRUNKENjNESS. John Kerr was punished in the usual manner for being drunk and disorderly. The Court then adjourned.
