CROWN PRINCESS.

In this mine a new level is at the present time about to be opened up; the shaft is now sinking for that purpose, arid has reached a depth of 60 feet below'the No, 2 level, or a total of 232 feet from the surface. It is intended to open out at a depth of 70 feet,, leaving 10 feet to be sunk befor* opening out. A winze has been started en No. 1 reef; two on No. 2 reef, which have each reached a depth of 16. feet; and one on,the specimen leader, to a depth of 45 feet, in pi&et to be able to open up the mice by the time the cross cut is in from the bottom of the shaft. Within the past week a noticeable change has taken place in the No. 3 reef, which is now being sunk upon in the shaft. A large amount of pyrites made its appearance, and was followed by a show of gold, much superior; -to .anything ever found in this reef.: It is a matter of significance to sea the reef improving going down; and, in all probability, all the lodes, in this mine will likewise .increase inrichness Crushing is. going.on with twelve head of stampers at the Prince Alfred battery. About 100 tons will be treated, andrfrom the present show oft the plaUs, a payable return may be. expected.
