CURE COMPANY.
The able manager of the above mine is now actively engaged working on the lode (known as No 5) which was met with in the footwall of No 4 winze. Tenders have been called for to intersect the lode on the main lerel, being 90 feet above the level at which the lode is now being worked upon; and at the same time it will be followed up from the Caledonian level, and thus give the Manager considerable backs, an object which he has of course had in view. From the appearance of the stone at the lower level, and from the great improvement apparent in it as it rises, it has become obvious that
the lode is poorer as it goes dawn, and confirms the idea formed from previous observations that the best stone is got from the main, or Manukau level. I caw some stone from No 5 leader, which is heavily charged with mineral, and gold was plainly to be discerned—in some cases thickly impregnated. It is thought that the least which may be said of it is that the fctone is an indication of something better to come. The company are not crushing at~ present, but "eypeclT'tb commence shortly. ■■■■-: ,-■?
