Cheistchubch, Tuesday. Another fire occured last night near the centre of the city in some large stables near the Warwick Hotel. The Fire Brigade were again remarkably smart. The flames burst through the roof before the fire-bell rang, and although the stable was within twelve feet of the hotel, yet the fire was confined entirely to the stable. A hand-engine was throwing water five minutes after the alarm, and a steam engine in, fourteen minutes. The damage is about £400. The New Zealand office loses about £250. Dunedin, This day. J. L. Gillies, Esq., M.H.E. for Waikouaiti, has resigned his seat. George McLean, Esq., is likely to be returned unopposed. Ngaro and EarJ of Lynne are now much fancied for the Dunedin Cup.
