The Hamilton Spectator of Saturday writes :—" A few days ago Mr Mason, Cavendisb, brought up from Portland.- to Hamilton a most extraordinary crab, caught by him in Portland Bjy. The "creature weighed 201b. 40z., and measured itt. from tip to tip of his extended claws. The measurement across the body wes 21iu , and the circumference of the big nipper was 12 in. Probably fiom the■ effects of age, the two nippers of the big claw were as smooth as a rule, the teeth being worn away, and the shell of'he claw was »s black as ebony. When seen by our informant the crab wai alive, and to test his powers of consumption, lib. of beef eteak was given him, which he completely disposed of in three minute?. His own turn to be devoured came at last, however, for he was cb'oked and served up at Kirby's Caledonian Hotel, and formed a good supper for a dozen people.""
