Fatal Mining Accident.

ONE MAN KILLED.

An accident occurred to-day about 10 o'clock in the Dauntless and Sink to Rise mine, which resulted in the death of a man named David McFarlane; It appears that deceased and his mate were working in a stope about 60 feet from the surface, when about a ton of stuff fell on him, crushing him—his head especially being badljfractured. Hall, the deceased s mate, saw the stuff gire way, and called out, but ifc was too late. Hall went immediately to the assistance of McFarlane, but he nerer spoke, and he then called out for another man working near; the, tworemoring him at once, but finding life extinct. The remains of the deceased were remored to the Rising Sun Hotel, where Dr Lethbridge saw them. An inquest will be held to-morrow. Deceased was a single man, about 30 years of age.
