HOSPITAL COMMITTEE MEETING.

| The first meeting of the recently elected | Hospital Committee was held in the I Salutation Hotel last evening at 4 o'clock. There were present: His Worship the Mayor, and Messrs Macnab, Kennan, Hill, Adams, Binney, Brown, Bagnall, Sims and Comer. The President and Vice-President both being absent at the time at which it is usual to commence proceedings, Mr Sims was called to the chair;, Mr Hill subsequently arrived, and took his place. MINUTES. The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and confirmed HOUSE COMMITTEE. The Secretary *aid there was no report of the House Committee, the Committee not baring held a meeting since the annual election. Mr Renshaw read a statement of the accounts, and the assets and liabilities of the Hospital. The liabilities were £53 16s 9d; salaries, £52 15s 4d ; total, £106 12s Id. Assets-Balance at Bank, £176 14s 7d; cash, £7 12s 7d; Provincial Government account, £83 6s Bd. , Mr Sims proposed the statements be adopted; seconded by Mr Gudgeon and carried. surgeon's export. The Secretary read Ibe Surgeon's report; which directed attention to a casein which a patient had been in receipt of money since entering the Hospital, having remained an indoor patient for five weeks, and had not paid up. Mr Kenshaw moved that a female to fill the position of nurse be advertised for, the application to be in time for the next monthly meeting. ; Mr Sims moved that the House Com- i mifcLee to be appointed be instructed to J bring up a report upon the beds and bedding of the Hospital, stress having been laid on the fact that there was a defect in this matter at the' late annual meeting. Mr Sims was informed that this matter was already under consideration. PBIICTING —ADDITIONAL. Mr Bagnall proposed that the Hospital Committee go to the expense 1 of getting uniform, bill heads to distribute for the convenience of the auditors and Secretary, as the confusion of different sized bills was not only unsightly, but inconvenient. Mr Hudson seconded the motion. Mr Frater did not see that there would be any advantage in doing this. They would not be warranted in going to the expense though it was only a pound. He proposed an amendment that the expense be not incurred. Mr Brown seconded the amendment which was carried. EXCUSES FOE ABSENCE. ' '' ; Excuses were received from absent members. , . . APPLICATION FOB INCEEBSED SALARY. A letter was received from Mark Fit ton, cook, asking for more wages, not considering the present salary adequate to his position. HONORARY MEDICAL STAFr. Drs Kilgour, Payne and Perston were elected an honorary medical staff. Mr Gudgeon proposed that Dr Forbes, lately arrived on the Thiime?, be added to the list. • . It was decided to let the consideration of this appointment stand. HCUSE COMMITTEE. Mes«rs Adams, Bagnall, Mcllhone and Sims were appointed a House Committee. The members of the General Committee then disperfed, save those who were appointed as a'House Committee, who remained to attend to some business requiring their consideration.
