ALL COMERS' MATCHES. Genebal Eules.—(l.) To be open to all comers. (2.) Hair triggers are for* bidden. (3.) No wind or sun screens allowed. (4.)-All competitors to be under control of the Officer in Command, and all disputes to be decided by him, and his decision to be final. (5.) No entrance permitted after the first shot in either match has been fired. (6.) In each match, competitors must use the same weapon throughout, save in the case of accident, when it may be changed by permission, of the Officer in Coma. and. ''■■■■ Ist Match.—(l. Eanges, 200 and 500 yards. (2.) Seven shots at each range. (3.) Bifle, muzzle-loading long or me.* dium Enfield. (4) Ammunition, as issued by the Government, to be provided by,the competitors. (5.) Entrance fee, os. ...... • Pbtzes.—lst prize; £6 and one-half entrance fees; 2nd prize, £5 and onefourth entrance fees ; 3rd prize, £3 and one-fourth entrance fees ; 4th prize, £2; sth prize, £1; 6th prize, £1. "' . This match commenced after nine o'clock. Men were formed into five squads under the usual squad officers. The shooting, on the whole, was good; the 200 yard range being completed, at noon, the firing stopped for dinner. The protest, it is rumored, against Skinner, was considered last night by the officer commanding, but the decision will not be made known until the presentation of the belt and prizes. It is. also »Aid that Skinner has admitted that the sight was filed, but not by him. The day was not over bright, with a little wind blowing. From the scores it will be seen that the superiority of the cartridges used by the
men in this match enabled them to make better shooting, as eack man pleased, himself as to what ammunition he used, and none used the same as that supplied bjr the Government daring the Champion matches. In diving off the bank he struck a snag in the river, and a piece of it ran into his right side, inflicting a serious wound. He lost a considerable quantity of blood, causing fainting, and was at once carried to the Hospital, where the wound was dressed. The second All-comers' Match is ex* pected to come off at once.
