At the Police Court Richard Line was committed for trial for forging a cheque for £7, drawn on Major Jackson. Mr O'Eorlre addressed his Onehunga constituents, and received vote of thanks. The speech chiefly related to his objection to the abolition resolutions. He re-as-serted that he had informed the Government of his intention to resign should the resolutions be pressed, and one member of the Ministry stated he would do so also, but drew tack afterwards.
The Supreme Court case, Eyan, Bell and Go'v. Macffarlane, a Thames case, resulted in a verdict for defendant on all the issues.

Some four or five cases of scarlet fever amongst the Berar's immigrants are of a most malignant type; Detention is likely to be protracted longer than was originally expected.
