THAMES HOSPITAL COMMITTEE MEETING.
A meeting of the members of the Thames Hospital General Committee was held yesterday afternoon, at 4 o'clock, in the Salutation Hotel, for the purpose of receiving the yearly report and balance sheet. There were present :-Mr Wm. Howe (President); the Rev. James Hill, and Messrs Frater, Macnab, Sim's, Gudgeon, Mcllhone, Eenshaw, Kennan and Hudson.
The Secretary read the report of the Committee.
Mr Mcllhone proposed," that it be adopted, which, was seconded by Mr Gudgeon and carried.
The Secretary said some arrangement would hare to be made to admit none but subscribers to the stalls at the Annual General Meeting to be held- in the evening.
Messrs Mcllhone and Eenshaw offered their services to see that this arrangement was carried out.
Mr Eenshaw remarked, in connection with the subject of annual meetings, that something more might be effected in the interests of the Hospital were such occasions to be taken advantage of by those of the committee who were clergymen and able speakers to deliver addresses on the usefulness of the institution, its progress, etc. As a rule they just came to the meeting and went away again., He had always felt disappointed with these meetings on that account, and believed that they did not have as beneficial an effect as they might have. After some further remarks of no public interest, the House Committee of the Hospital gathered themselves together, and visited the Hospital, there being a few matters which the Secretary stated required attention.
