At a political banquet given to Mr Hanna, M.L.A., at Benalla, the Premier, in his speech, recognised the constitutional and electoral reform and adjustment of the incidence of taxation as a necessity nest session. It is rumoured that dissensions amongst the Ministry are likely. The trustees will shortly open the Museum and Art Galleries on Sunday.
Trips by the steamer Golden Crown down the Bay have been successful. On the sth inst. the heat in the shad© was 101 degrees.
The Ministry gave a picnic on Wednesday, in lieu of the whitebait dinner. Arrangements are in progress for starting a labor bureau.

"Sydney, January 5. , The elections are nearly all completed. Parliament meets on the 27th. The test debate will be on the Governor's minutes to release Gardiner, and it is likely the Ministry will be defeated.
Bis rumoured that Sir J. G. Innes, the Attorney-General, will be made a Judge of the Supreme Court. Tenders for a permanent mail contract are to be called next month, and a special meeting of the A.S.N. Company has been called to authorise the directors to tender for it. .
A Chinese cook on board the barque Francis, at Newcastle, stabbed a seaman named Webba, in the chest.

Adelaide, January 5. Sir Grf o. B6wen,;on arrival at Glenelg, risited Adelaide, and was nearly left behind, as when he returned to Glenelg the mail steamer was off. Governor Bowen had a .three-mile chase in a steam launch, when the Ceylon hove to to take him on board.
The Hon. Mr Waterhouse, of New Zealand, is a passenger on board the Ceylon.
The Germans have issued a political platform, which includes liberal land laws, compulsory education, payment of members, and assisted immigration.
