Taxjkanga. This day.
At Tauranga a Regatta and athletic sports eventuated on Boxing Day, at which was present a large concourse of Maories and Pakebas. The sports were an immense success, and'included an exciting canoe race between rival tribes. There was a groat gathering of Natives on^the same d«y at Kati Kati to keep up Christmas. The holiday meeting had no political-significa-tion whatever; everything passed off pleasantly at both places.
