DBUNKENNESS.
James Bond was charged with^having been drunk and incapable in Williamson street, Grahamstown. Defendant said he was drunk. Fined 10s and costs. He asked for time to pay. as he was engaged on the water race. The^Bench informed defendant that there was no alternative. AN ABUSISX. Annie Bradford was charged with that she did unlawfully make use of abusive and insulting language towards Frances Hastings. .. There being no appearance of either party, the case was struck put.;- V

The negro showed no disposition to comply, and on being pressed for a reason answered, h well, look heah. massa, if Igo up dar an' fall down and broke my neck, dat'U be a tousand dollars out o'your pocket. Now, why don't massa hire : pn Irishman to-go up, and then if he falls and kills lieself dar won't be no loss to anybody."
