The proceedings commenced by*|Mr Coburn explaining the mode ofexaminatiou as carried out undeV the san'cttbh and superintendence of the local committee, from, whichdt appcaredrihat the following (subjects' were taken ju, writing and on paper, yiz:—txrinlme'rV Geograyhy, and -Arithmetic (excepting, of course mental), the questions being prepared by the Teacher, and the papers looked orer and rallied by him for the Committee's approval and award. TJhe,-remaining subjects were conducted orally by the Committee and Teachers, in the/ presence of such friends of the school as desired to attend. Themumber of pupils in attendance was 86J the total number on the school roll rDeingH3. Mr Allom then explained that it would be 4necessary to complete certain business before the prizes could be .awarded, and at the request of the Committeefthe Kefi Mr Lush aisistod them in deciding ties for reading and dictation' in several classes. Hd begged to thank the rabscriber for their liberality—also the visitors for their' attendance, and especially those ladtei who had kindly coftsentea to distribute the prizes. On the suggestion of Bey. Mr Lush, three cheers were given byythe children for tKose who have ittbiejribfa' towards the priies.
