PROTEST AGAINST GOLDEN CROWNS.

A meeting of the stewards of the Thames Annual "Race meeting was held at noon, to take into consideration pro* tests entered by Messrs Bpbbett, Darrow, and Quinlivan against "Golden Crown" being allowed to run at the meeting. The protests were on the ground that McGee, the owner of the horse, had not sent kis acceptance in on Saturday, the 19th, as provided for by the rules published. After considerable discussion, it was decided that if Mr McGee had received the telegram informing him of the handicap in time to reply on Saturday night, his horse should be disqualified. (The" of horses' who jprotested against Golden Crown accepted on certain conditions, and should be aware that even thejr are not in a position to object, their acceptances being scarcely legal;)
