Bismarck, speaking in Parliament, declared that the policy to be adopted towards Alsaco and Lorraine would be safely guided by the interests of the empire.
Pabis, December 1.
The Assembly met, bat the proceedings were merely formal. All parties agreed to defer the Constitution discussion till January.
London, December 2.
The attendance at the wool sales is declining, and competition becoming languid. Sixty thousand bales were sold, and two thousand five hundred withdrawn.
The Budget, speech delivered by the Treasurer was well received.
London, Dec. 2.
Capt. Strachan, Governor of West African settlements, assembled the chiefs at the Cape Coast, and delivered to them a message from the Queen, expressing the determination of the British Government to abolish slavery. The chiefs assented, but stipulated for permission to retain their actual slaves if kindly treated;
The steamer La Plata, with the South American cable, foundered off Ashant. It is feared that sixty perished. The Benchers of Gray's Inn hare unanimously disbarred Dr Keneally for his conduct in the Tichborne case;
