NEW RIVER BOAT.
MrE. Stone is building a remarkably fine boat, to be worked by steam, tosthe order of Mr Burmngham,, owner and captain of the Buona Ventura. Her dimensions are as follow :—Keel, 50 feet, and 52 feet overall; beam, 9 ieet 6 inches; her depth, moulded, is 4 fe^t 6 inches. She will of course be decked,, and exclusive of engines be capable of carrying fully seveia tons. She is intended for the river trade between Shortland and Ohinemuri, and, from her appearance, will be admirably adapted for the "trade. While being shaped to draw very little water, she has still admirable points for speed, her bows especially being beautifully formed. The boat is nearly completed as regards Ihe work of the builders. She will then be launched and her engines fitted, the which are suitable for the trade the boat has been built for. Mr Stone has also in hand the building of a large ketch for the Bay of Islands and Thames trade to the order of Mr Souter. The keel, stern and stem-posts are in position, and all the ribs and ship-building material are laying about ready for immediate fixing. Mr. Stone has some excellent machinery for shipwright work, the best, perhaps, in the province,, with which he is enabled to cut his heavy in the various fashions required, and turn them out already planed.
