The Evening Star. PUBLISHED DAILY AT FOUR O'CLOCK P.M. Resurrexi. MONDAY, DECEMBER 7, 1874.

Ik a parliamentary paper received the other day we have particulars showing the area of land purchased and leased (transactions complete and in progress) with expenditura thereon, under the Immigration and Public Works Acts of 1870 and 1873. In the table giving the names, areas, Ac, of blocks for which negociations are in progress, we find the Waikawau and Moehau, or Cape Colville Block, consisting of 118,802 acres, purchased by James Mackay, Esq. The amount fixed as purchase money is £15,642 5s od, of which £14,720 5s 9d has been paid. As it was recently stated at Ohinemuri thnt no price was fixed for this land, either the statement musk be erroneous or the paper before us (which was presented to both Houses of Parliament during last session of the Assembly) is unreliable. It is distinguished from other purchases by the absence in the "Bemarks" column of such phrasei as " acreage and purchase money not yet fixed;" the latter being placed opposite Ohinemuri, the acreage of which is set down at 150.0C0, on account of which £6,274 17s 6d "purchase money" has been paid.
