Mb James Mackay arrived form Auckland in the Buona Ventura this morning at four o'clock, and shortly after continued his journey to Ohinemuri. Sir Donald McLean has notified his intention of visiting the Thames some day next yreek, to talk over matters. If he can " talk over" the plausible Te Moananui, we fancy that is all that will be required of him: Mr. Mackay can do the rest. If he cannot make an impression on Te Moananui, Sir Donald had better invite him to take a trip in the Luna to see the Most Noble the Marquis of Normanby, our new Governor. A little flattery from a Knight and a Marquis might effect what Mr Mackay has not done, namely, conciliation of Te Meha. It would certainly be a favorable augury for the new Governor if he could assist in i ever so small a way in opening Ohinemuri. " Every man has his price," said one who knew men, especially men who affect politics ; and there is no doubt Te Moananui is to be bought, although his price is no longer a bottle of waipero or a cast-off coat.
