Sagacity.—A Philadelphia reporter, in describing the turning of a dog out of court by order of tho Bench, says :— *• The ejected canine, as he was ignominiously dragged from the room, cast a glance at the judge, for the purpose of being able to identify him at some future time."
An English Cannibal. —" Why do they call the people -who live in some of the South Sea Islands cannibals ? " asked an old woman of a sailor. " Because they live on other people," answered the sailor. " Then," said the old woman, pensively, "my son-in-law must be a cannibal, for he lives on me."
A Nice Question of Taste.—Jeweller: ""What kind of chain would you like?" Young man: "Well I hardly know. What kind of chain do you think I ought to have—that is, what style do you tkink would be the most becoming for a young man who carries groceries to some of the best families in town ? "
