•The brig Bio Logo took her departure for Ontnciru on Saturday, with a large cargo of timber. Sko was piloted down channel by Captain Best, but it was found that no pilot dues could bo levird owing to (ho fact that the schedule of fees imposed by the Superintendent under the Marino Act could not be enforced, euch schedule not baring been approved by the Governor and published iv the New Zealand Gazette. This it nn oversight or something worso which ought nt once to be looked into. Yesterday an attempt was made to take the brigan!ine Endeavor up the river, but the tide was not •trong and the attempt failed, as the Endeavor had made herself comfortable in the mud. The brigantine Endeavor proceeded up the Thames River to-day to load timber for Oamaru. The Prince Alfred will follow in a day or two, and several otho'rs are expected. The capabilities of the mills worked by Mr. John Gibbons ur» beginning to be felt, and ere long a much increased trade may be expected.
