QUEEN OF BEAUTY.
The shaft of the above company's mine has been sunk to a depth of 350 feet, and opening out for tho chamber will be commenced on Monday Morning, preparatory to opening out a new level, which will give 70 feet of blocks to stope out. The mining operations in the 270 feet level are upon Nos.l and 2 lodes. Of No. 1 there is little more than one-third worked out, and the average width is fully 6 feet; No. 2 is pretty well worked out up to its junction with No. 1 lode. A distance of 70 feet from the boundary of the City of London. The two lodes up to this point have given a good average of crushing stuff; and the small leader, usually known as the specimen leader, is also giving about 18 inches of first-class crushing dirt. The bulk of this leader remains intact to the surface. Eorty-six stampers are employed, and the stuff is looking up as well as it did during the last fortnight of rich harvest. With regard to the general workings of this i claim, they are in a better condition than what theoutside public have been led to beleive; for although great difficulty is experienced in keeping the work in firstclass order, the manager, Mr. Wilson, keeps the mine in a good working condition.
