The Luna arrived afc ten o'clock last night. Passengers : —Bishop Williams, Judge Began, Captain Mair and Contingent. The Superintendent and Mr. Holloway met the natives in the new Court House yesterday afternoon. There were crowds of natives present, and the affair was a success. Mr. Holloway left this morning per coach for Ohinemutu accompanied Mr. J. C. Young. On his return he will inspect thoroughly the district, accompanied. by the Chairmen of Boad Boards.
Lamentations and intense grief overspread the Arawa district, on account of the venerable local chief of the Ngahuhuhuru, who died on Thursday at Itotorua. He was worthily respected by the Government and his neighboring Europeans. CoEOMAKDEii, This day. The City of Auckland will retort to ■ day, and expect 203 ounces of gold. The Royal Oak has started crushing at the 2sil Desperandum battery. The Union Beach and Tokatea stock are getting firmer—more enquiry.
