Business remains without animation, and the markets are very quiet, but as the season advances a better business may be anticipated. Breadstuff* are firmer, but it is difficult to place any parcel. If buyers are only meeting present requiremento, iv indicates a healthy state in commercial circles ia our district;, and the operations of the last two months ought to command orcry confidence. Adelaide flour moves off slowly, a t £18; ?ofuhern (best brands) £14 10s, in sacks 20s extra for 100's and 50's, inferior sorts according to quotations ; maize, 6s 6d to 6s 9d, market bare ; oats, 6s to 68 6d, demand slow 5 bran, Is 9.1 to 2s; pollard and barley meßl, 103 ; potatoes command higher figures, and move off at prices ranging fr. in £12 to £13; oilman's stores and groceries, demand moderate, and at prices scarcely remunerative to importers. A meetiKg of the creditors of Meesra Murphy Brothers took placo at tha office of Mr. Tyler on Wednesday, but was adjourned by request of the Auckland portion of creditors to Auckland.
