Wellington, This Day. Heavy rain still continues. The mails are stopped between Wanjanui and Wairarapa.

Hokitika, This day. Been raining heavily for four days. JNb damage. Mails stopped.

Gbettown, This Day. An attempt was made yesterday afternoon to carry the Wellington mails through Abbott's creek in a trap. The driver was nearly drowned—the mails lost. The floods are subsiding. The Masterton coach tried to reach Grey town this morning, but could not succeed.

Cheistchubch, This day. Showers of rain at short intervals continued till seven this morning. The sky is still threatening. The#^s are going down. It will take thre^l^s to repair damage done to the railway. A Grand Lodge of Good Templars for the Middle Island was instituted here last night. Representatives of 41 lodges were present. S. P. Andrews, M.P.C. for Christchurch, was elected Grand Worthy Chief Templar. It was decided to hold the next annual session of the Grand Lodge at Dunedin.

At a meeting of the Acclimatisation Society yesterday it was announced that 3,800 trout had been hatched out artificially.

The Globe, evening newspaper, changed hands to-day, having been purchased by C. A. Pritchard, who continues it on his own account.

Auckland, This day. The barquentine Falcon, 285 tons register, built to the order of Watt Bros., Napier, was successfully launched to-day. She is intended for the trade between Napier and Australia.

In the Supreme Court in Bankruptcy to-day, the case.of George Thorne was again called, and a discussion ensued regarding bankrupt's accounts, which had not been made up in terms of agreement at last Court day. The case was ultimately adjourned, without anything definite being done, on the understanding that bankrupt should make up his accounts from October until date of bankruptcy. This was the only business. The only sale to-day was Bismarck, 4s. Buyers—Moauatairi, £1 15s; Whau, £1 10s. Sellers—Caledonian, £7 10s ; Alburnia (new), £1 ss; Long Drive, £6.
