BREACH OF BOROUGH rBYE-lAWS. Edward Healey and James Snelgar were charged with a breach of section 15 Part 1 of Bye-law No. 1 of Thames Borough by driving a cart across the footway, in Pollen-stre»t on the 21st. Both defendants pleaded guilty. Mr. Bullen said the act occurred opposite Smales' building. . There was a crossing there, but it was being repaired. ' His Worship fined defendants Is and costs, taking the circumitances into consideration. , ANOTHER CASE. Robert Bateman was charged with a breach of section 42, part 1 of Bye law No. 1 of Borough of Thames, by allowing 4 pigs to wander on uninclosed lands at Tararu, Thames, on the 21st. Defendant pleaded guilty. Mr. Bullen said the nuisance was an extensive one in the vicinity, and publicity should be given to the fact that Tararu was in the Municipality. His Worship said he would only fine defendant Is and costs, though he did not suppose that he was ignorant of the law in this respect; but he would warn -all Tararu people through defendant that the greater part of Tararu flat was within the bounds of the Municipality, and that fines would be imposed iv future if cattle were allowed to stray. BIDING WITHOUT REIJSTS. W. loughman was charged that he, being the driver ot a vehicle not driven by reins did unlawfully ride thereon, there being no one on foot to guide the same, in Pollen-street on the 22nd. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 2s 6d and costs. stray cows. Michael Maginn was charged with having committed a breach of section 43, part 1, of bye-law No. 1 by allowing two cows to wander at large in Willoughby street on the 23rd. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 5s and costs. THE BABBOW NUISANCE. John Enthman was charged with that he did unlawfully wheel a wheelbarrow on the footpath in. Pollen-street on the 24th. Defendant said he spoke French. His Worship said he had heard defendant speak English. Mr. Louis was called to interpret. Defendant said first that he did not do it on the day stated, but afterwards pleaded guilty—he was wheeling the barrow into the garden. He also said he had been in the district four months, and was working with Mr. Quadri. His Worship let defendant off, as he was a stranger and a foreigner, but cautioned him not to offend again.
