OPENING NEW RIFLE RANGE

; On Saturday time did not perm ih of our giving a report of the formal opening of the new rifle range, and the result' of the day'i shooting, the report given having been confined to a descripti n of the construction. Mr. McLaren, in a brief address, handed over "the ranj,'o to Captain Murray, in the; absence of Mayor Cooper, and congratulated the Volunteers on havincr procured so suitable a range. Captain Murray replied on behalf of the .. H Volunteers, and expressed the pleasure " he experienced in receiving the range, for the possession of which the > Volunteers were indebted principally to Messrs. fheehan and Caroenter. \ Captain Murray concluded by calling for cheers for Mr. McLaren, the Superintendent, ,-Jffir* Sheehan, the lion. As stated before, the weather was anything but favorable; otherwise the result of the'firing would have been better. The Thames IN aval Brigade men are conspicuous among the names of the prize winners—numbering eight out of the twelve, and also heading the list.
