Taueanga, This day. Tho new Government offices'were completed yesterday. Bennett and Kay tho contractors, formally handed over the buildings, to| Government. The work is most successful and trcditable to the contractors ; completed thirteen days before contract time. In vjsecabgill, This day. Mr. Cuthbertson has addressed his constituents. After detailing the work of the session, ho entered into the question of the abolition of the Northern Provinces. He explained to his audience that he knew something by experience of working provincial institutions under adverse circumstances, and could judge whether the continuance of impecunious provinces in the North would be beneficial either to the colony or the outlying districts of these provinces themselves. The parrot cry of the Middle Island that their land fund was in danger would nob impose upon his constituency, who could see there was ho connection between the two ihings. It was a cry raised by provincial officials as a desperate expedient for the purpose of enlisting the sympathies of tho South. After Mr. Outhbertson's address, a motion thanking him was proposed, but regretting- his action in supporting the Government resolutions. The motion met with no support, and an amendment was proposed expressing the cordial confidence of the constituency in Mr. Cuthbertson. It was carried on a show of hands, with only five dissentients.
