I do not know who induced monied men T to put up^ such f a jplen<|id plant afV^aiiybfttteryi but^jie ; have a warm corner below; it is one of the bust on the Thames, and that is not saying a little, aad any effort that can be made to keep it pay ably in work should bo mads. ; The ground in its neighbourhood is not half prospected, still that does not alter the folly of placing such a battery on such a site, it is so utterly dependant on rainfall for its supply of water. Surveys ordered may possibly contribute to a six months' supply of stone to this -particular mill. But with such easy access to the mills on the flat by tramway and road, any attempt to develope this part of our district should be received with the utmost encouragement.
