BIRD IN HAND G.M.CO.

An extraordinary meeting of the shareholders in the above company was held last night in the Gorernor Bo wen Hotel, to confirm resolutions passed at the last extraordinary meeting. Mr. J. Macky was called to the chair. . The annual general meeting was then held, and after the minutes of the last meeting had been confirmed; the directors' report was read, by the chairman. The balance sheet (made up to the 21st August) shewed that the liabilities were £333 12s Id. The expenses, including £1,£92 6s 6d balance last account, were £7,354 18s 2d; and the receipts, including £4,544 Os Id for gold, £4,621 6s Id; leaving a balance to new account of : £2,733 12s Id. - The Chairman remarked, that the T amounts due for battery accounts, paysheet, cartage,'&c, did not appear in the sheet,, a* the accounts Were not in when it was made up. He stated that the accounts appeared in the report. They were as follows:—lmperial Crown battery for the month, £212 7s; cartage account for the month, £46 Is 9d; fortnight's paysheet up to the 22nd instant, £256 15s 9d. By adding the liabilities as stated in the balance sheet, namely, £333 12s Id, to this amount it will be seen that the total liabilities of the company are £84816s 7d. The condition of the mine aa regards tHe working is shown to be satisfactory. The company have purchased the Lucknow Company's plant for £375, and have had it fitted up. It woiks satisfactorily. The amount of gold obtained from the imVe during the year is of the value of £4,544 Os Id. . The following gentlemen were elected directors for the ensuing year :—Messrs. James Macky, Dennis Murpb/yv Charles Murphy, James A. Fryer, and Thomas G. Kennan. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the meeting. , (After the above a directors' zneetiog was held at which instructions were given to the manager to open out at the low level, 66 feet from the present main leveU commanding 70 feet backs. There are 30 feet to drive to reach the lode. Crushing has been discontinued.)
