A TEiEGBAM,was received by His Wor; ship the Major to-day from J. Williamson, Esq., Superintendent, to the effect that in '..reply 'to-his question as to the intentions ' of .the .Government ra the. Thames and Tauranga.road, the Hon. the Minister for :Publie Works stated that the work could not.be undertaken thia session, but that the survey would be made. We sincerely hope that the Auckland members will decline to accept this as the ultimatum of the .Government. * The* road is a public necessity, and it must be made. If the members will only look at it in this light the task will be easy of accomplishment. We would be sorry to „ see the Government in any fix with regard to native affairs, b»t we believe that the native difficulty jn, thi« s district is a myth* j and .exists only in the imagination , ,of , office servants, whose craft would be endangered by sweeping away the bugbear of Native administration as distinguished from the ordinary operation of the Government.
