FIRE BRIGADES ANNIVERSARY.
The Grahamstown and Shor^land Fire Brigades having coma under control of the Borough Council, it ha»ibeen ded to hare one annirersarj demonstration of an united character To-day was fixed upon,for the turn out,^and the first portion of the programme has been gone through. At two o'clock to-day a number of the volunteer firemen, met at their respective' engine houses. From the engine house in Queen-street a start wag made, some members of the. Hibernian Band preceding in a?cab, and the "firemen following. on their engines ; .and hose express. In Shortland they were joined bythe.Shortland brigade,,and the procession paraded the principal streets of the Borough. This evening the anniversary dinner will beheld at the Pacific Hotel; when, ' besides the'firemen, a number cf citizens are expected to be present., The fire brigades are deserving of every countenance and encouragement from the burgesses. ■-■:■■
