REPRESENTATIVES OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

A lively scene occurred recently in the House of Representatives of South Carolina. A bill was under discussion when Mr Dannerly; a coloured member, rose to speak, but conducted himself in jsuch an eccentric manner that the Serjeant-at-Anns mttempted to remove him. Dannerly resitted, and, drawing a pistol loaded with ■lugs, put. the S.ergeant-at-Arms and half a dozen : depHtiesj to flight.. Several members then made a rush at him, but his colleague* Mr. ;Riley, a,, coloured member from Orangeburgh, rallied to his support, and, grabbing him by the collar with one hand, kept the crowd at bay with the other. Pistols were drawn, and desks, chairs, and inkstands overturned in tho melee which ensued. The speaker rapped his gavel industriously, and called upon tho Sergeant-at-Arms to do his duty, but that functionary was powerless to do anything. Dannerly and his colleague in the meantime kept up an incessant fire of oaths and horrible language, and still held their position. A resolution was then introduced providing for the expul■ion of both members from Orangeburg. After discussion the resolution to expel Eiley was passed, and the Sergeant-at-Arms was sent after the chief offender, Dannerly. 'A. new difficulty then arose. Dannerly, it wax then stated, was too intoxicated to appear before the House. He was nevertheless brought up-rhis condition being described as "decidedly limp," and his speech to the House rambling and unintelligible. He then withdrew, and the resolution to expel him was passed, by a vote of 79 yeas to \S nays.
