THE MAYOR'S SALARY.
(To the Editor of the Evjikin^Stab.) Sib,—l quite endorse "Truth's"'remarks on, the conduct, of the Southern scrawler of the Advertiser in this matter., t I thought the Press were the exponents of public opinion, but it seems that the Advertiser, having a personal spite against our worthy Mayor, thought fit to depre? cate the small salary awarded- him. bo* - cause as chairman of the Highway Boars he looked thoroughly into the accounts delivered to that Board, and ,if enquired into it will, be found that - our -.worthy Mayor, as such chairman, had occasion to tax (and that considerably) feome printing and advertising Accounts sent in by the liberal-minded proprietors of" the Advertiser.' Hence! the spite. LeVoor worthy Southern emigrant learn from the public as to the respective merits of himself and Mr. Davies and he will find himself a very'small potato.—l- am; &d4 J Shobtiasd.
