Auckland, This day. In the Supreme Court in Bankruptcy Machattie obtained his discharge. Sharemarket is dull. Sale—City of London, £1 10s. Buyers—Caledonian, £9 15s; Old Whau, £1 18s; City of York, 10s 6d; Queen of the May, lls 6d ; Ota go, 10s.
Bluff, This day. The brig Carl, from Lyttelton to the Bluff, struck on a rock at the mouth of the harbor. The rock appears to have gone through her bottom. The wreck was abandoned. She was insured in the New Zealand office.
Wellington, This day. The adjourned debate on the quostion of unfulfilled promises to the Middle Island Natives created considerable discussion. Mr. Macandrew considered all the claimß which were now put forward for 2000 acres as having been settled by the Provincial Government, and more than settled, as they had paid £2000 as liquidation in full, to prevent the question being put in the hinds of the lawyers. Ultimately the question was referred to the Public Petitions Committee on the motion of the Premier. The Hawke's Bay Waste Land and Wellington Waterworks Loan Bills were read a second time. The Wellington Reclamation Bill for £150,000 on (he motion of the Premier was referred, to a select, committee. On the Bill for electing the May «r of Wellington Mr. Sheehan moved that the bill be madeto apply to the whole colony. Opposed by the Government and several members, and it was read a second time as originally introduced. The Southland Waste Lands Act Amendment Bill was read a second time and referred to the Waste, Lands Committee. The Nelson Waterworks Loan Bill was po?tponed for a week at the wish of the Premier. The third reading of the. Fencing Law Bill was fixed for Friday. * The Plans of Towns Eegulation Bill was opposed by Mr. Richardson, and after discussion was shelved on a division that the Chairman leave the chair by ■' 20 to 12. The Wellington Education Reserves Bill was read a second time. The Juries Act, 1866, Amendment Bill, moved by Macandrew, created considerable discussion, but was read a second time. The Marlborough Waste Lands Bill passed. The Merchant Shipping Act Bill met with much opposition, "on the grounds that people would always require to have lawyers at their elbows, or English acts to consult, as the Act was very meagre. The Bill was read a second time. The Presbyterian Church'of Otago land Bill passed. The House adjourned at midnight.
