THE CROWN PRINCE.
A nice leader has been met with by the contractors driving in the bottom level cross-cut, about 15 feet from No. 2 reef, and running in the direction of No. 1 reef. It measures from two to twelve inches in thickness, and lies in a diagonal direction. I saw a prospect from it washed in a dish, and it certainly shewed gold very freely. # There were one or two good little specimens in it. It will in all probability junction with the No. 2 reef to seaward of the present cross cut. The ground in these workings has changed very much for the better, and considerable progress has bteen made. The engine for this company seems a myth—contractors and everyone wanting its presence. I fancy some of our Thames engineers and foundrymen would have made a quicker job of putting it in order.
