THE SONS OF FREEDOM.
Mr. Lowe, the mine manager, this morning lodged at the National Bank, a parcel of gold weighing 250z 6dwts, the produce of 34 tons of stuff from the above mine. Part of the stone was taken from a winze being sunk to connect the 90ft. level "with that of the 150 ft., and a portion of it from within 45ft. of the Lincoln Castle company's boundary in the 90ft. drive. The reef in the winze is about a foot thick, and when, the ground is opened out, it is the manager's opinion that he will have good payable stone to hand. The Sons of Freedom mine has for some time been in the shade —in fact, out of the sharebrokers' list; it may have been only dormant for a time. It is likely that the'reef carried down with the winze, will cause a favorite mine to take up its old position in. the skaremarket. The Sons of Freedom returns have hitherto acted commercially on the surrounding claims, and although the present return is comparatively small, it should be born in mind that the^re is great difficulty in securing clean stone from progressive works.
