There arc no works being oarried on in this mine other than sinking the main shaft, which is now down'3oß feet. The country is still very, tight and difficult. There is now very little water met with in the shaft, so that sinking is not impeded from that cause, and the air is particularly good. The shaft has yet to be. sunk 62 feet deeper if it goes the depth the manager, Mr. Thorn, suggested. By a system of drainage the water accumulating in the old working is kept out of the shaft, and is cfrawn:to surface once a week. It will take some time yet to sink the shaft, but when it is down it will give backs of'great* height for stoping out. .. -. . . •%,.; '.. ■ , ,-.. . ':
