THE UNION BEACH YIELD.

With reference to the mistake in the yield from the Union Beach r crushing as reported in yesterday's Star,,to which attention is called in this; morning's paper, we may state'that ihe error Vas not our correspondent's: it occurred in the telegraph office. The message was repeated by request, this morning, and it was then discoveredithatJhei yield of gold in the telegram presented by our correspondent was 301 ounces melted. We make this explanation in justice to the correspondent. As to tho", conflicting statements " sent to an* evening paper, we can only remember one other, reference to: the Union Beach yield from the present crushing. That was on Monday last, and was to the effect that the:crushing of 62 tons general stuff and 300 pounds specimens had been finished, and the yield would be near four ounces. The actual result shows how " conflicting " our correipohdenty statements" Save been, and what a querulous; fellow "Shareholder " mustbe. ' ■'■■-.
