BOARD OF EDUCATION.
At the fortnightly meeting of the Board of Education held on Thursday, the foN lowing business of local interest was transacted:—The application \of( Mr. W. Vickery, pupil teacher at Tararu school, asking a month's pay in lieu of notice to leave, owing to the reduction of numbers at the school, was referred to the School Committee. A letter wav received;from the late chairman of the Waiotahi School Committee stating that Mr. Comes had been appointed to the Shellback school under the assumption that, Jie would be paid for it as a country school, and the Board decided that the rate of payment would be in accordance therewith up:; to. the date of their decision that it should be a town school. An application from, the Kauaeranga; ( Committee, asking for the erection of .a school, was .received, and the Board; decided that -the- application should-^receive iss favorable consideration .when, in a ppsitipn., r £p.xlp.sp.
