The Promoters, in placing the foregoing fac s before the people of this Colony' desire to point out the very great d:sadvantages that colonis's are sure to labor under by lending—or rather giving—such a large sura of money as stated above to foreign Banks, to bo lent back to the people herelafe very high rates of mterest-, and on most arbitrary conditions. They therefore have rib hesitation in suggesting the prudence and w'sdoin of tha colonists keeping within their own domain the absolute control of their own moneys ; ns by so doing they will most effectually destroy the riskof future monetary disturbances,-' which .they havo had on more than one occasion to deplore in tho past, brought about, solely by some crisis that has occurred in one or other of the Australian Colonies, where the real interests of tho foreign Bank most strongly take root. 9th. As a thoroughly colonial institution, the promoters havo much pleasure in strongly recommending "The Colonial Bank of New ZvAZAVb " to the support of all colonists having the real welfare of New Zealand at hear*. Such an institution is much wanted at the present time, and as tha development pf the colony proceedp, its usefulness will also'increase, and be more and more appreciated, both as an investment for the savings of the people, and as a ireful Bank. Judging from the influence and sound experience pof seseed by the promoting members »of committee, it is certain that no similar institution has ever yet been launched in the Southern Hemifphare under better ruspices.
