THEATER ROYAL.
The performances afc this theatre last '• night were for the benefit of Mr Gr. W.; ' Collier. In spite of the wretched weather ;_ and the numerous attractions elsewhere,'' '■ there was a capital, house, the pit being especially well patronised. The piece*. '\ announced for performance were " Silken ' Fetters " and the burlesque of " Cinder- , ella." The former was played, but not with the cast as announced. The alteration was explained by Mr Collier, who came ' beforo ;the curtain and claimed the in- , dulgence of the audience for a necessary -" deviation from the programme, the lead- . \ ing lady, he said, having thrown up-her " part" at the last moment. The comedy was very prettily played; however, and the audience appreciated it immensely. It was followed by an interlude of singing,,. 1 the National Anthem by the company. taking precedence. For the burlesque .' was substituted " The Widow's Victim," an amusing little comedj' not unknown to playgoers. Ihe performances were got , through smoothly despite the little contretemps at the commencement, caused by a proceeding which we believe to be un- -. precedented amongst the fraternity of the ; sock and buskin. The theatre will be open as usual this .evening. ' > •,
